Sioux Falls (Homeland) Security

Will Sioux Falls ever have a disaster like New Orleans or The Twin Towers? How about like Spencer, SD? Are WE ready? From the information I have gathered we are somewhat ready for a post-disaster situation. But I do not find that the public knows how to prepare themselves prior to a disaster.

I would have a plan developed that would join with Homeland Security to build fallout shelters in new or remodeled buildings such as, churches, schools, large event buildings, hotels, etc. Homeland security has the plans and funds to help communities with this. We already have neighborhood watch groups and CERT personnel (Certified Emergency Response Teams) that could be point people in the community to keep the lines of communication open should a disaster happen.

I realize many people don't like to think about these scenarios. If you don't like to be burdened with stressful thoughts like this - put me in the Mayoral position and I will have a plan in place so you can go about your everyday life. Citizens will need to find out where to go and who their neighborhood point person will be.
